WWOOFing in Costa Rica

I am so excited! After learning all of these things about food production I actually get to be a part of it! This January, three friends and I are going to Costa Rica to work on organic farms for two weeks.

Just yesterday we got our confirmations back for our spots at the farms, and so we are all set to go!

The first place we are going is called Rainsong Sanctuary . It is on the southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. It is actually an animal sanctuary, so we will be working with animals there in addition to "learning tropical gardening (biodynamic, permaculture, co-creative)." A contact in Costa Rica said that this is an absolutely gorgeous place to be.

The second place we are going is called Finca La Flor (or Flower Farm) in the Orosi valley about 1.5 hours outside of San Jose. Here our volunteer work will deal with organic agriculture, botanical gardening and forestry, domestic animals and medicinal plants.

Though I have always helped out in my mom and grandmother's gardens, this will be multiple hours a day of working outside on the farms.

Who knows? Maybe they'll make a farmer out of me....
